Zoo worker accused of stealing credit card number
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – An employee of the Potawatomi Zoo has been accused of allegedly stealing a zoo member’s credit card number and using it to purchase goods valued at $ 350, according to the files of the court.
Destinee Losey, 21, has been charged with two counts of fraud.
The victim contacted the police after noticing two fraudulent charges on his MasterCard in February 2019.
A fee was billed on February 18, 2019 to DC Carter’s Inc for $ 134.64 and a fee on February 20, 2019 to Deckers / UGG for $ 219.35.
During the investigation, a detective contacted Deckers / UGG and discovered that the card was used by Losey by name, phone number, address, IP address and shipping address, according to the probable cause affidavit.
On February 23, the detective investigating the case spoke with Losey.
Losey admitted to using the MasterCard without the victim’s permission, according to the probable cause affidavit.
She said she obtained the victim’s credit card information from the victim’s membership application at the Potawatomi Zoo, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Losey is due to be brought to justice on Thursday.
We contacted the Potawatomi Zoo to find out if Losey is still an employee.
